Sony Xperia Z hits UK mobile carriers following its earlier release in Japan. 


The phone comes with a 5-inch touchscreen, 1.5 GHz quad-core processor with 2GB RAM, a 13 megapixel camera with 16x digital zoom, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean installed, with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean likely to be updated soon after launch.


The waterproof phone is likely to be Sony's first serious competitor to other smartphones in the market such as Apple's iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3.
