Liberty Global could place a bid to buy over Virgin Media amid on-going take over talks.


A statement issued by Virgin Media on February 5 confirmed that negotiations were taking place.


"Virgin Media confirms that is in discussion with Liberty Global, a leading international cable company, concerning a possible transaction. Any such transaction would be subject to regulatory and other conditions," it said.


The move would put Global Liberty's chairman John Malone in competition with his occasional rival Rupert Murdoch for UK's pay-TV customers.
