A public memorial service is held for former US Navy Seal sniper Chris Kyle, who was shot in early February at the Rough Creek Lodge near Fort Worth, Texas, along with his neighbor Chad Littlefield.
"Chris Kyle and his trusted friend, Chad Littlefield, were tragically killed on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, by a troubled veteran whom they were trying to help," said Chris' brother Jeff Kyle in a statement. "Chris lived by a professional motto: 'It is our duty to serve those who serve us.' And he and Chad died honoring this creed."
The shooter Eddie Ray Routh, a former Marine who suffered from post traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD), was arraigned on two counts of capital murder.
Kyle, considered one of America's deadliest snipers, is the co-author of best-selling autobiography American Sniper. His second book American Gun - A History of the U.S in Ten Firearms is coming out in May.
