Japan and Saudi Arabia sign an agreement allowing Tokyo to make emergency requests for additional oil supplies from the Arabic Kingdom.
Under the agreement, a telephone hotline will be set up between the two governments, which will allow Japan to make an emergency call in the event of a crisis.
The deal represents a significant increase in cooperation between the two countries.
