Court issues delayed verdict in Berlusconi's appeal case against tax fraud conviction

An Italian court is expected to announce its ruling on the appeal in Silvio Berlusconi's tax fraud case. Previously the court delayed the trial until after the general elections.
Just like in the case of his sex trial, Berlusconi requested the hearing to be postponed in order to prepare for his election campaign. The court approved his request and postponed both the final arguments hearing and the verdict hearing to March.

Berlusconi was convicted in October 2012 for fraud linked to his business empire Mediaset. He was sentenced to one year in prison and given a five-year ban from holding public office.
The sentence has been suspended pending his appeal.
