Qatar poet in appeal trial following postponement

The appeal trial of Mohammad Al Ajami, a poet who was sentenced to life in prison, resumes.
Al Ajami was sentenced over a poem he allegedly recited in Cairo which was deemed by the courts as "inciting to overthrow the ruling system" and "insulting the emir".
Qatar said that the verdict was not an infringement on the freedom of speech, but action against an illegal call to overthrow political regimes, a violation of the local law.
