The European Union resumes aid worth up to €250 million to Mali amid international efforts to restore democracy in the West African nation.
"The swift adoption by the Malian authorities of a transition roadmap to restore democracy and stability has opened the door... for restarting gradually development aid," said Europe's development commissioner Andris Piebalgs in a statement.
The funds were frozen in 2012 in the wake of the March military coup, which resulted in Islamist insurgents taking over the northern parts of the country.
