|
|
EU member states conduct DNA tests on processed beef for traces of horsemeat and the veterinary medicine phenylbutazone ("bute"), at the request of the European Union.
The move was prompted after traces of horsemeat were found in ready meals such as lasagne and spaghetti bolognese sold by several major supermarket chains in 16 EU countries.
