The International Football Association Board (IFAB) is scheduled to discuss the proposal to have footballers wear an electronic chip in their shirt to help warn of medical problems.


The board is expected to decide at their annual meeting whether to run a trial of the system.


The data that the chip will monitor includes heart performance, body temperature and the distance being covered.


The measure is being considered after several top players have suffered cardiac arrests on the pitch.
