Peace rally held in Kenya ahead of elections, candidates urged to attend

The event is part of a peace initiative launched by a group of influential citizens including Secretary General of Kenya Red Cross Abbas Gullet and Family Bank chairman Wilfred Kiboro.
Previous elections in the country have been mired with riots and violence, especially the last general election, held in 2007, which led to the death of around 1,500 people and left a further 300,000 displaced.
All presidential candidates have been invited to attend the rally, as well current the president, Mwai Kibaki and former President Daniel arap Moi.
