American platinum-selling rapper Ja Rule leaves New York prison after serving most of his two-year sentence for illegal gun possession. The star will, however, not be able to enjoy his freedom just yet as he heads straight into federal custody on a tax evasion conviction.
According to Ja Rule's attorney Stacey Richman, the rapper may have less than six months left in prison.
"Many people are looking forward to experiencing his talent again," Richman said about the artist's release.
