Pope John XXIII, born Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli, who led the Roman Catholic Church from 1958 to 1963, is made a saint.
The pope, known as 'Good Pope John' and 'the most beloved Pope in history' was beatified by Pope John Paul II on September 3, 2000.
On July 5, Pope Francis waived the customary rule requiring a second confirmed miracle after beatification and announced John XXIII would be canonized.
The same day, the leader of the Catholic Church approved the second miracle attributed to the late Pope John Paul II and confirmed he would be made a saint.
Pope John XXIII is best known for calling the Second Vatican Council in 1962, which modernized the face of Catholicism.
