High Sierra Music Festival is an annual four-day music festival featuring compositions from genres including jazz, newgrass, bluegrass, jamband  and other improvisational music forms.


Held in a mountainous region about 80 miles northwest of Reno, the festival is known to feature complimentary workshops, excercise classes, art and craft stalls and a number of foor and drink outlets situated a distance from the actual performance stages.


First initiated in 1991, the event has sparked the appearance of several other festivals with a similar theme around the rest of California as well as other states including Nevada, Missouri, Massachusette and Georgia.
