Alexander Agassiz Medal is awarded for an original contribution in the science of oceanography.


This year, Prof. David M. Karl, professor of oceanography at the University of Hawai’i, Manoa, receives the prize.


The Medal was established by Sir John Murray in honor of his friend, Alexander Agassiz.
