Every year, the Dutch commemorate the war victims of the Second World War and other wars or peacekeeping missions since then.

During a remembrance ceremony at the country's capital's Dam Square, members of the royal family, military leaders and representatives of the resistance movement lay wreaths in honour of the dead.

At eight o'clock, the country observes two minutes of silence. - Remembrance Day & Liberation Day: 4 and 5 May on 2013-04-24
