On May 5, every year, the Netherlands celebrate Liberation Day, which marks the end of the second World War in Holland.

Liberation Day is not a national holiday, although school and universities are usually closed on this day. Only once in every 5 years the day is a national holiday.
During the day most big cities hold liberation festivals. At night, the May 5 Concert in Amsterdam closes the official celebrations. The King and the prime minister attend the concert.
