On Ascension day (dutch: 'hemelvaartsdag') the Dutch also celebrate an old tradition 'dauwtrappen'. It's name relates to the ancient tradition it stems from, meaning to go about walking barefoot in the long grass that is wet with dew, hence the translated dew-trodding.
The tradition predates christian beliefs in the Netherlands. And it is only in part of the Netherlands celebrated.
