Skaters from all over Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C. and other east coast states will travel to Wakefield Skate Park June 21 and 22 to participate in the 7th Annual SkateFest. SkateFest has raised over $30,000 over the past 7 years for the Children's National Medical Center of Washington DC. SkateFest has activities for everyone whether its skating for a cause, participating in the skate competition or simply enjoying the festival supporting Children's National.
SkateFest is a two-day event beginning on Friday with preliminary rounds and the two main festival events on Saturday. Skateboarders of all ages and all skill levels will kick off Saturday by participating in Sk8 for a Cause to raise money for Children’s National. Sponsored participants will skate a check-pointed route through Wakefield Skate Park receiving free prizes as they ride along the route. The five-event skate competition will succeed Sk8 for a Cause along with a festival.
The preliminary rounds of the skateboard competition will take place Friday 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. with registration beginning at 3 p.m. at Wakefield Skate Park. Sk8 for a Cause registration and check-in will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
