The Grand National is an annual horse race held at the Aintree Racecourse. It is one of the most famous horse races in the world. The race is best known for its handicap steeplechase, which, with a distance of 4 miles, is the biggest one in the world. The Grand National also features a Liverpool Day and a Ladies Day. Both days are surrounded by cultural events. The horse race was founded in 1839 and has since been held at Aintree each year, with the exception of the First and Second World War.
