The Airtel Delhi Half Marathon is India’s largest half marathon event. It is claimed to be the ‘world’s richest half marathon’ with a $210,000 winning prize, and it attracts some of the world’s biggest names in distance running. It received the IAAF Gold Label for Road Races.
About 30,000 runners cover the 21 kilometre distance at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, and the fastest runners reach the finish in just over one hour.
The event started in 2005 as the Hutch Delhi Half Marathon. There are also shorter race events for senior citizens and the disabled.
