Serbia celebrates the Statehood Day in commemoration of the outbreak of the Serbian Revolution against Ottoman Empire.
The Revolution broke out in response to the slaughter of Serbian noblemen, which occurred in January of 1804. In 1805, Serbia established the National Assembly of Serbia. Serbia's statehood was formally accepted by the Ottoman Empire in 1817.
