The Miami Masters, which is being sponsored by Sonny Ericsson, for which it holds its current name (since 2007), is an an annual tennis competition.
It is part of the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour 1000 for the men's tour and it's a Premier Mandatory event for the women.
Hard courts are used throughout the tournament, which takes place in the Tennis Center at Crandon Park.
The first name of the competition was the Lipton International Players Championships and it belonged to the Grand Prix Tennis Tour (of Grand Prix Championship Series) from 1985 till 1990.
There were a few changes in the sponsors, which also affected the name of the tournament.
In 2000 it was called Ericsson Open and in 2002 it became NASDAQ-100 Open.
