Moment of silence during Yom Hazikaron
Israelis mark Yom Hazikaron, the official memorial day for fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism.
The remembrance day falls on the 4th day of month Iyar of the Hebrew calendar, just one day before Israel's Independence Day . It opens with a siren at 8:00 PM, local time, the preceding evening.
The siren sounds for one whole minute during which Israelis stop everything and stand in silence.
National memorial services are attended by Israel's leaders and military personnel. The main ceremony takes place at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.
