Commonwealth celebrates 89th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II

The Commonwealth of Nations celebrates the 89th birthday of their dearest Queen Elizabeth II. 

From a distance of more than 7,000km, the British High Commission in Ghana also gives a special performance dedicated to the Queen, featuring Ghanaian singer Novella Wiyaala.

Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, the constitutional monarch of 16 sovereign states, also knows as the Commonwealth realms, was born in 1926 in London.

She is also the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. Her Majesty's coronation was on June 2, 1953, after her father's death in 1952.

The Queen married Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in 1947. They have four children - Edward, Andrew, Anne and Charles.
