Taiwanese passport holders are allowed to travel to the US without a visa as part of the US' visa-waiver program.
Under the program, travelers from participating countries can visit the US for tourism or business for up to 90 days without a visa.
Taiwan is the third Asian country to join the program after Singapore and South Korea. Taiwanese travelers will still be screened before entering the US and may be asked to provide information about their purpose of stay.
Even without visa-free travel, the US is the main destination for Taiwanese travelers. Last year, the American Institute in Taiwan issued more than 145,000 non-immigrant visas to Taiwanese nationals.
