The construction of Pakistan's new high-security cricket stadium is completed. The new stadium is expected to allow international matches to be resumed. International teams have boycotted playing in Pakistan since a Sri Lankan team bus was attacked by militants in 2009 while in Pakistan for a game. Six policemen and the driver were killed and several cricket players were wounded. With a capacity of 50,000, the new stadium is the largest in Pakistan. The complex also accommodates a hotel for foreign cricket teams. The Pakistan Cricket Board hopes that the new stadium will soon result in an end to the boycott. The board also announced to buy bulletproof buses for foreign teams.
Since the militant attacks, the Pakistani cricket team has played all official matches at neutral venues, mostly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
