Florida fossils dealer Eric Prokopi is sentenced in court after pleading guilty to smuggling practices on December 27.
Prokopi was caught attempting to illegally import a 70 million-year-old Tyrannosaurus bataar skeleton from Mongolia into the US. The marketer was hoping to re-assemble the $1 million dinosaur skeleton upon arrival and sell it at an auction.
The dealer was also found to possess six other dinosaurs at his Florida home, including two Oviraptor skeletons.
Assistant US Attorney Martin S. Bell referred to the stash as "the larger dinosaur shopping lists you'll see today".
Prokopi could face a 17-year prison sentence.
