Mining giant Lonmin is to install a new CEO, following the resignation of Ian Farmer after months of
at the company's Marikana mine and financial struggles as a result of weak platinum prices worldwide.
Farmer worked for the company for over 26 years, four of which as a chief executive before falling ill in August.
"We will greatly miss Ian's ability, commitment and drive, which he has devoted to the company over a career spanning more than 26 years", Lonmin chairman Roger Philimore commented on Farmer's resignation.
