The Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS) takes place, with high-level individuals including Mikhail Gorbachev and Nobel Laureate Carlo Rubbia expected to make presentations on development issues.
Sub-themes for this year's summit include growth potential for the green economy, adapting to impacts of climate change and mitigating emissions of greenhouse gases.
The event is held annually to provide an international platform for the exchange of ideas regarding sustainable development.
Starting out in 2001, the summit has been attended by 33 Heads of State and ministers from over 43 countries.
Many important figures from industry and academia are invited to share their ideas in one of the leading forums on issues of global sustainability.
