British Prime Minister
David Cameron is expected to visit India to boost
defence and trade ties.
Cameron is said to look to promote British defence exports after a UK-led consortium had failed to bag a $20 billion contract to supply fighter jets last year.
The British PM is also expected to focus on other business ties with India, pushing for sales of other defence and civil equipment and encouraging Indian groups such as the Tata Group to bolster their investments in the UK.
Another important point on the agenda is the introduction of tougher restriction on UK student visas starting April 2013. According to sources, Cameron will try to reassure Indian students that they are welcome in Britain, after recent figures suggested a significant drop in foreign student numbers.
