Pakistan Awami Tehreek, the political party of Muhammad Tahir ul-Qadri, a Pakistani cleric who has been pushing for electoral reforms in the country, may participate in this year's parliamentary elections.
The announcement came on January 17 when Qadri reached a deal with Pakistan's ruling coalition over his party's involvement in the formation of a caretaker government ahead of the election.
The cleric reappeared on the Pakistani political scene in December 2012 after leaving Canada and moving back to his home country. Upon his return, Qardri called for a "democratic revolution" and staged a "million-men" march in Islamabad to protest against government corruption.
