Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto heads to Costa Rica on an official
visit to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries.
The agenda of the visit includes talks with the President of Costa Rica Laura Chinchilla. Peña Nieto is also scheduled to meet other regional leaders at a gathering of the Central American Integration System (SICA).
During the current semester the country acts as the president pro tempore of SICA.
Mexico has maintained close political and commercial ties with Central America. In recent years, the two sides have decided to increase cooperation on issues such as security and combating drug trafficking.
