Hurtigruten cruise ship
Norway's Hurtigruten cruise line cuts the number of its employees by more than 25 percent in a bid to increase profitability. The company, which has struggled with rising fuel and workers costs, suffered in 2011 its worst accident in decades when a fire broke onboard the MS Nordlys and killed two crew members and injured nine others.
The company reportedly had over 1,900 employees in 2011. The majority of Hurtigruten's business comes from cruise trips along Norway's expansive coastline and fjords.
