French President Francois Hollande pays a two-day visit to India, his first visit to an Asian country since he was elected.
The premier will attend a reception at the Indian presidential house Rashtrapati Bhavan and is also expected to pay a short visit to Mumbai as part of the official visit.
Hollande is expected to emphasise on a speedy conclusion to on-going negotiations for the purchase of 126 medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA), a deal worth over $10 billion.
Official sources apparently say that the French side expects a favourable announcement by the Indian government that negotiations over Dassault Aviation's Rafale aircraft have reached an advanced stage.
The two countries also aim to finalise the commercial agreement with nuclear giant Areva to build European Pressurized Reactors in India.
