Irish trade unions hold bank debt protests

Union's Begg said bank debt threaten the future of Ireland

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions is to hold demonstrations in six locations across the country in protest against the country’s €64 billion bank debt burden.

General Secretary David Begg said the bank debt threatened the well-being of future generations.

The 9 February demonstrations, with the theme "Lift the Burden: Jobs Not Debt," will take place in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and Sligo.
