EU foreign ministers will discuss sanctions against Syria
Foreign ministers from the European Union are expected to discuss once again the extent of the arms embargo against Syria after a previous meeting ended in confusion about what military support can be provided to the
Syrian rebels under the union's existing sanction regime.
Following a meeting on January 31, Catherine Ashton, the EU's foreign policy chief, stated that existing exemptions might satisfy the UK's demands to see restrictions eased.
Diplomats and officials are expected to clarify the details of the sanctions regime at the meeting.
