A merger between American Airlines and US Airways is expected to be announced following a meeting of the board of directors of AMR Corp., American's parent company.
According to News 8, under the new deal US Airways CEO Doug Parker will likely take over, and AMR CEO Tom Horton will be given an honorary position on the board such as non-executive chairman.
The board approved the merger in a meeting in January, agreeing that the move is the only way to avoid an AMR bankruptcy.
