The United Nations Security Council holds an emergency meeting to discuss North Korea's latest underground nuclear test.
South Korea, currently holding the chair at the council, called for the meeting and announced that the country's Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan would address the media in New York after the meeting.
The United States, South Korea and several European members of the council are likely to call for tighter sanctions to be placed on Pyongyang over the test, which UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon described as "deplorable".
