Old Bailey holds a preliminary hearing in the case of Virginia Wheeler, the Sun's defence editor, and PC Paul Flattley on charges of conspiring together to conduct misconduct in a public office.

Details about 'high-profile individuals' and 'victims of accidents, incidents and crimes' were also supplied to the Sun by Flattley between 2008 and 2011, the Crown Prosecution Service said.

The charges arise from Operation Elveden, Scotland Yard's inquiry into the corruption of public officials by journalists at News International, which led to the closure of the Sun's sister paper, the News of the World.
