European Union agriculture ministers meet for their monthly session. The council discusses the horsemeat scandal that recently hit some European countries, including the UK and Ireland.

Concerns grew in early February when the British unit of frozen food group Findus began recalling its beef lasagne after tests of the product found that between 60 to 100 percent of the meat came from horses.

European ministers held a summit over the scandal on February 13.
