South Korea's new president, Park Geun-hye, prepares to take office on February 25, following the presidential election on 19 December 2012. She will be the first female and the 11th president of South Korea.
The incoming government wants to be known as, “The Park Geun-hye Government,” spokesman Yoon Chang-jungthe of the presidential transition team has said, “The name was decided on with the simple purpose of promoting President-elect Park’s political vision and philosophy.”
Park Geun-hye takes office after recent nuclear tests in North Korea and amidst major international concerns about nuclear proliferation.
