The lower Manhattan neighbourhood of Little Italy celebrates the spirit of the early Italian immigrants during the annual Feast of Gennaro.
The 11-day event was first organized in 1996 by the Figli di Gennaro Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to honour the lives of the early immigrants. It attracts about one million visitors every year.
The festival features religious processions, music, all kinds of Italian food and a world-famous cannoli-eating competition.
