Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that always falls on the Sunday before Easter Sunday. Also known as Passion Sunday, the feast marks the start of the Holly Week. The feast commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. In many Christian churches, Palm Sunday is marked by the distribution of palm leaves to the worshipers in the assembly. The difficulty of procuring palms for the day's ceremonies in unfavorable climates for palms led to the substitution of palms for native trees.
