Holberg International Memorial Prize
The Holberg International Memorial Prize, established by the government of Norway, acknowledges the objective of increasing awareness in the scope of academic scholarships.
In particular, attention is given to the arts, humanities, social sciences, law and theology or in any other field provided an exceptional level of interdisciplinary work has been attained.
Winners of this prestigious award receive an astounding cash prize of EUR 570,000.
First established in honour of Ludvig Holberg, the prize complements the Abel Prize in mathematics established in 2002.
The prize for 2013 is awarded to anthropologist and sociologist Bruno Latour.
